Cable Tray Hanger Fabrication

Cable tray hangers are made by selecting appropriate materials, cutting support rods or brackets, and installing them at proper intervals to safely support the tray and cables.

Materials and Tools Needed

To make cable tray hangers, you will need: Threaded rods or metal brackets (steel, stainless steel, or galvanized for corrosion resistance)Beam clamps, nuts, and washers for securing rods to structural elementsCable tray connectors and fittings to attach trays to hangersDrill, wrenches, and measuring tools for precise installation.

Steps to Make and Install Hangers

Plan the Layout Determine the cable tray route, considering clearance, load, and separation from other utilities. Mark hanger positions along the route, typically 1. 5 to 3 meters apart depending on tray type and cable weight.

Cut and Prepare Rods or Brackets Pre-cut threaded rods to the required length for ceiling or wall mounting. Ensure the rods or brackets are strong enough to support the tray plus a 25% safety margin for future cable additions. Attach Rods or Brackets to Structure Use beam clamps or anchor bolts to secure rods to ceilings, beams, or walls.

For wall-mounted trays, YPK wall supports or similar brackets can be used with M6 screws and nuts. Install Cable Tray on Hangers Place the cable tray onto the hangers and secure it with tray clamps or fittings. Ensure the tray is level and aligned to prevent sagging.

Check Load and Spacing Verify that each hanger can support the maximum expected load. For heavy industrial cables, spacing may be 1. 5 meters, while lighter data cables can be spaced up to 3 meters.

Finish and Protect Apply corrosion-resistant coatings if needed, especially in wet or coastal environments. Ensure all nuts and bolts are tightened and that the tray is stable.

Tips for Safety and Durability

Avoid mixing metals that can cause galvanic corrosion. Always plan for additional cable weight in the future. Use center-hung supports for easier cable installation and maintenance.

Inspect hangers periodically to ensure structural integrity and prevent sagging or failure. By following these steps, you can create reliable cable tray hangers that safely support electrical wiring in commercial or industrial installations.
