Equipment end fiber optic reel

Fiber optic reel equipment includes modular reels, tactical reels, and reel loader trucks designed for efficient deployment, transport, and storage of fiber optic cables in diverse environments. Modular Advanced Reel Systems (MARS)The MARS reel is a lightweight, modular system made from impact-modified polymer, ideal for harsh-environment fiber optic installations. It supports rapid deployment and retraction of fiber cables and can be used with optional frames, backpacks, shipping cases, and cable acquisition platforms.

Features include built-in fiber optic cleaning kits, flip-out handles, stackable design, and integrated connector storage for 0. 50–2. 1 mm diameter connectors.

MAR

S reels are available in capacities from 100 to 1000 meters, with flange diameters around 17 inches and widths varying by cable length.

Tactical and Field Reels

Tactical fiber reels are lightweight aluminum drums designed for temporary networks, military, broadcast, or industrial applications. They come in capacities of 100, 250, or 500 meters of fiber, feature double flanges, collapsible winding handles, brakes, and stackable designs. These reels protect connectors and allow quick deployment in the field, with customizable colors and sizes for operational needs.

Fiber Management Reels

Fiber management reels, such as CMG segmented reels, are designed for precise handling of fiber ribbons and cables. They offer controlled bend radii (25–40 mm), adhesive pads for secure winding, and modular designs suitable for lab or field use. These reels are ideal for delicate fiber handling and integration with fiber holders or patch panels.

Reel Trailers and Loader Trucks

For larger-scale deployments, fiber optic reel trailers like the EZ80 can handle reels up to 108 inches in diameter and 7200 lbs payload. They allow one-person operation with optional power assist, maximizing productivity and safety in the field. Reel loader trucks, such as the UTEM RLT or PTR Hydrabed, integrate hydraulic lifts, squeeze-arms, and power wind systems to transport, load, and deploy heavy fiber reels efficiently.

These trucks support reels up to 102 inches in diameter and 5000 lbs lifting capacity, with features for figure-8ing, automated payout, and safe night operations.

Key Considerations

Environment: Choose lightweight polymer or aluminum reels for tactical or field use; metal or sheet-metal reels for industrial or harsh environments. Capacity: Match reel size to cable length and diameter requirements. Deployment: Consider trailers or loader trucks for large reels or multi-site projects.

Accessories: Look for integrated cleaning kits, connector storage, stackable designs, and foldable handles for efficient handling and maintenance. These options provide a comprehensive solution for fiber optic cable management, from small tactical setups to large-scale industrial deployments.
