Charging the fill light module

Fill light modules are typically charged via a USB-C or USB-A port, with device-specific cable requirements and built-in battery indicators to monitor charging status.

DJI Osmo Mobile Fill Light Modules

For DJI O

M series devices, such as the DJI OM Multi-Functional Tracking Module or Fill Light Phone Clamp, the module has a built-in battery and can be charged using a USB-C cable connected to a USB adapter. To charge: Connect the USB-C cable to the module's charging port. Plug the other end into a compatible USB power source (adapter, power bank, or computer).

The indicator light on the module will show the battery level and charging status. Charging is complete when the indicator shows full battery. For modules integrated with the gimbal, such as the DJI OM 7P, ensure the Phone Charging/Recording Cable is connected if you also want to charge your phone simultaneously.

Double-clicking the M button on the gimbal handle can start charging the phone via the module. Important notes: The fill light module may turn off automatically if the temperature is too high or too low. Some functions, like color temperature adjustment, only work when the fill light is powered on.

Always use the recommended cables to avoid charging issues.

Other LED Fill Light Modules

Some LE

D fill lights, like the Leofoto FL-L96, have specific charging behavior: They may not charge via USB-C to USB-C cables, even with PD chargers or power banks. Charging works reliably using USB-A to USB-C cables due to design limitations in USB-C power negotiation. This is a common design characteristic and not necessarily a fault.

General Tips

Always use the cable type recommended by the manufacturer. Avoid using cables that do not support the required power negotiation, especially for USB-C devices. Monitor the indicator lights to confirm charging progress.

Keep the module away from extreme temperatures during charging to prevent automatic shutdown. By following these guidelines, you can ensure your fill light module charges safely and efficiently, whether it's a DJI OM accessory or a standalone LED light.
