Configuration of H3CAC Side-Mounted Core Switch

The H3CAC side-mounted core switch can be configured by setting management IPs, creating VLANs, configuring interfaces, enabling DHCP, and establishing routing to integrate with access points and egress routers.

Management IP and Login

Connect to the switch using a PC via console or management Ethernet interface. Assign a management VLAN (avoid using VLAN 1). For example, use VLAN 5 as the management VLAN.

Set the management IP on the VLAN interface or M-GigabitEthernet interface (e.g., M-GigabitEthernet 0/0/0) to allow device login.

Enable Telnet or SS

H for remote management access.

VLAN and Interface Configuration

Create VLA

Ns for different departments or network segments (e.g., VLAN 10 for Department A, VLAN 20 for Department B). Assign interfaces to the corresponding VLANs. For uplinks to access switches, configure aggregate links if multiple ports are used.

Configure VLA

N interfaces (VLANIF) for inter-VLAN routing and assign IP addresses to allow communication between VLANs.

DHCP Server Setup

Enable DHC

P on the core switch to assign IP addresses to clients.

Create DHC

P address pools for each VLAN or department (e.g., DHCP pool 1 for VLAN 10, DHCP pool 2 for VLAN 20).

Bind the DHC

P pools to the corresponding VLAN interfaces.

Routing Configuration

Configure a default route pointing to the egress router for Internet or external network access. Enable static or dynamic routing protocols (e.g., OSPF) if multiple core switches or routers are involved.

Specify VP

N instances if isolating public network routes from internal traffic is required.

Side-

Mounted Deployment with Wireless ControllersConnect the WX series AC wireless controller to the core switch.

Assign the LA

N port of the AC to the same subnet as the management VLAN of the core switch (e.g., 192. 168. 1.

0/24). Enable Layer 2 registration for APs by connecting them to the core switch and ensuring DHCP assignment from the core switch. Activate licenses on the AC controller via the H3C support portal to enable full functionality.

Verification and Maintenance

Ping VLA

N interfaces to verify connectivity between departments. Check DHC P leases to ensure clients receive IP addresses correctly. Monitor routing tables and interface status to confirm proper network operation. Use CL I commands to display system status, VLANs, and interface configurations for troubleshooting. By following these steps, the H3CAC side-mounted core switch can be fully integrated into a campus network, providing VLAN segmentation, DHCP services, routing, and wireless controller support.
