How to wire the linkage switch in the distribution box

Wiring a linkage switch in a distribution box involves connecting the switch to the main phase and neutral lines, ensuring proper integration with MCBs, RCCBs, and the earth link for safety.

Step-by-

Step Wiring Process1. Safety First Always turn off the main power supply before starting any work. Use insulated tools and verify that no voltage is present using a multimeter.

Identify Components

Linkage Switch (DP or SP): Acts as a main isolator or control switch.

MC

Bs (Miniature Circuit Breakers): Protect individual circuits.

RCC

B (Residual Current Circuit Breaker): Provides earth fault protection. Neutral and Earth Links: Distribute neutral and earth connections to all loads. 3.

Connect the Input Power

Connect the incoming live (phase) wire to the input terminal of the linkage switch. Connect the neutral wire from the supply to the neutral link bar. Connect the earth wire to the earth link or metallic body of the distribution box.

Connect to Protective Devices

From the output of the linkage switch, connect the phase wire to the input of the main MCB. If using an RCCB, connect the output of the main MCB to the input of the RCCB. For double-pole (DP) MCBs, connect both phase and neutral from the RCCB output to the DP MCB input.

For single-pole (SP) MCBs, connect only the phase wire to the SP MCB input, while the neutral goes to the neutral link. 5.

Connect the Loads

For DP MC

Bs: Connect both phase and neutral terminals of the load to the DP MCB output, and the earth wire to the earth link.

For SP MC

Bs: Connect the phase terminal of the load to the SP MCB output, and the neutral and earth wires to their respective links. 6.

Verify Connections

Ensure all wires are securely tightened and correctly marked. Use a multimeter to check for continuity and confirm there are no short circuits. Make sure the linkage switch can isolate the circuit safely when turned off.

Final Safety Check

Confirm that the distribution box is properly grounded. Ensure that all protective devices (MCBs, RCCBs) are rated according to the load requirements. Close the distribution box cover before switching on the main power.

By following these steps, the linkage switch will be safely integrated into the distribution box, providing both control and protection for your electrical circuits.
