How to connect the yellow fiber optic cable to the router

You cannot connect a fiber optic cable directly to a standard router; it must first connect to an Optical Network Terminal (ONT), which converts the optical signal to Ethernet for the router. Step 1: Gather Required EquipmentFiber optic cable: Typically yellow with SC/APC or SC/UPC connectors. Optical Network Terminal (ONT): Provided by your ISP to convert light signals into electrical signals compatible with routers.

Router: Ensure it has a WAN or SFP port compatible with Ethernet input from the ONT. Ethernet cable: To link the ONT to the router. Step 2: Connect Fiber to the ONTLocate the fiber wall outlet where your ISP's line enters your home.

Remove protective caps from both the fiber cable and the ONT port. Align the connector using the key or tab and gently insert it until it clicks securely. Power on the ONT and wait 2–5 minutes for the status lights to stabilize, indicating a successful connection.

Step 3: Connect the ONT to Your RouterUse an Ethernet cable to connect the ONT's LAN/Ethernet port to the router's WAN port. Power on the router and wait for the indicator lights to confirm connectivity. Step 4: Configure the RouterAccess the router's admin panel via a web browser (commonly 192.

Safety and Handling Tips

Handle the fiber connector by its plastic housing to avoid damage. Avoid bending the fiber cable sharply, as this can degrade signal quality.

Place the ON

T and router in a dry, ventilated area near power outlets. Following these steps ensures a stable fiber-to-router connection, allowing you to fully utilize high-speed fiber internet.
