Step Usage

Set the blade: Loosen the thumb knob and rotate the blade assembly to the longitudinal position. Position the cable: Place the cable in the tool opening and adjust the roller or clamp for a snug fit. Tighten the blade: Secure the blade in position for a longitudinal cut.

Slide the tool along the cable: Pull the tool down the length of the cable to slit the sheath. For cables with external strength members, allow the tool to follow the lay of the members, which may create a slight spiral. Perform a second cut if needed: Rotate the tool 180° and repeat the longitudinal cut for complete sheath removal.

Open the sheath: Use pliers or a screwdriver to split the cable along the slit and trim as necessary.

Safety and Efficiency Tips

Always adjust the blade depth to match the sheath thickness to avoid cutting internal fibers. Use steady, controlled motion when sliding the tool along the cable. Replace or sharpen blades as needed to maintain clean cuts and reduce effort.

For smaller cables or pigtails, specialized fiber strippers like FOS03 or CFS-2 can be used for precise outer sheath removal.
