Main disconnect: After the meter, the live wire is routed to a main isolator or double-pole MCB to allow safe disconnection of power for maintenance. Outgoing supply: From the meter box, wires are routed to the main distribution board (MDB), maintaining proper insulation, secure connections, and adherence to color codes for live, neutral, and earth conductors.

Distribution Box Wiring

The distribution box (or distribution board) distributes electricity to various circuits within the building. Key steps include: Selecting the right board: Choose a board with appropriate IP/NEMA rating, load capacity, and material (steel for durability, plastic for indoor use). Installing protective devices: Include MCBs (miniature circuit breakers), RCDs (residual current devices), and fuses for each circuit to prevent overloads and short circuits.

Busbars and connections: Connect the incoming live wire from the meter box to the common busbar. Neutral wires are connected to the neutral link, and earth wires to the grounding bar. Circuit wiring: Each outgoing circuit is connected to its respective MCB.

Ensure proper wire gauge according to the load, neat cable management, and secure terminations. Testing and labeling: Before powering on, perform visual inspections and multimeter tests. Label each circuit for easy identification and future maintenance.

Safety and Compliance

Follow local electrical codes (NEC, IEC, or regional standards) and use UL/CE-certified components. Maintain proper spacing, ventilation, and accessibility for the distribution box, typically installed at ~1. 5 meters height.
