Fiber Optic Cable Silicon Tube Laying

HDPE silicon core tubes provide a low-friction, durable conduit for smooth and efficient fiber optic cable installation over long distances.

Structure and Properties of Silicon Core HDPE Tubes

Silicon core HDPE tubes are three-layer co-extruded composite pipes designed for optical cable protection: Outer Layer (HDPE Shell): Provides structural strength, impact resistance, corrosion resistance, UV protection, and weather durability. Middle Layer: Enhances mechanical strength and overall structural integrity. Inner Layer (Silicone Core): A solid silicone lubricating layer with an ultra-low friction coefficient, allowing optical cables to be pulled or blown through the tube with minimal wear and effort.

The coefficient of friction between the inner silicone layer and the cable is extremely low (less than 0. 06), ensuring smooth cable installation even over long distances. The tubes are chemically resistant, water-insensitive, and maintain their frictional properties throughout their service life.

Specifications

Diameter: Typically ranges from DN20 to DN800 (2–32 inches), depending on project requirements. Wall Thickness: Usually 2–6 mm, with common options of 3. 0 mm, 3.

5 mm, and 4. 0 mm. Length: Standard lengths vary from 50 m to 3000 m per coil or straight sections, with longer lengths available for special projects.

Installation Methods: Suitable for trenching, plowing, directional drilling, or as inner ducts in existing conduits.

Laying Methods

Fiber optic cables can be installed in silicon core HDPE tubes using manual pulling, mechanical traction, or air-blown techniques: Air-Blown Installation: Compressed air suspends the fiber optic cable inside the tube, allowing high-speed installation over long distances. A cable blowing machine clamps and propels the cable forward, reducing friction and installation time. Direct Burial: Tubes can be buried underground in trenches, typically at depths of 1.

2 meters or more, with marker stones placed every 50 meters for maintenance identification. Urban Pipelines: In densely populated areas, tubes are laid in pipe groups with manholes at both ends, allowing for easier maintenance and expansion.

Advantages

Reduced Installation Effort: The low-friction silicone core minimizes pulling force and cable wear. Durability: HDPE outer layer resists corrosion, UV, and mechanical damage.

Long-

Distance Capability: Air-blown installation allows cables to be laid over several hundred meters without joints. Flexibility: Suitable for highways, railways, urban, and rural deployments.

Applications

Silicon core HDPE tubes are widely used for telecommunication, internet, and infrastructure projects, protecting fiber optic cables, copper cables, and energy lines. They are ideal for FTTH networks, backbone infrastructure, and long-distance optical cable lines. By selecting the appropriate tube diameter, wall thickness, and installation method, network designers can ensure efficient, reliable, and low-maintenance fiber optic deployments.
